Molded Diaphragm

A molded diaphragm is a flexible, precision-engineered membrane used in a wide range of mechanical and fluid control systems to isolate two environments or regulate the movement of gases and liquids. Made from elastomeric materials—often reinforced with fabric or metal inserts—molded diaphragms are designed to flex repeatedly under pressure while maintaining an airtight or liquid-tight seal.

Molded diaphragms serve primarily as dynamic seals or barriers. They are key components in:

• Pumps: Like diaphragm metering pumps, air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps

• Valves: Pressure regulators, diaphragm control valves

• Actuators: Pneumatic and hydraulic control systems

• Compressors: Especially where lubrication-free, low-friction sealing is needed

• Medical and pharmaceutical equipment: Due to their sterile, non-contaminating properties when made from approved materials

In these systems, the diaphragm moves axially, flexing back and forth in response to pressure changes or mechanical actuation, effectively controlling flow without exposing moving parts to the fluid medium.
